The Cleveland School Remembers group was founded in March of 2013. Since our inception, we have made significant progress is spreading the word in violence prevention:
- Implemented monthly educational community meetings about violence prevention with special guest speakers
- Participated in several marches and vigils:(The Mother’s Day March, Vigil in Sacramento for all gun violence victims, Vigil in Stockton with bell ringing for Sandy Hook Victims in December)
- Rallies at state and federal political offices
- Attended Brady Group meetings in Modesto and Sacramento
- Sent representatives to the Brady Conference in November, Washington D.C.
- Sent representatives to the Brady Conference in October in Long Beach, CA
- Testified and supported legislation at the State Capitol on Aug. 13, 2013
- Multiple interviews with local and national television and print media
- Participated and and led several Phone banks & Letter writing campaigns
- Worked with the Stockton Unified School District to distribute a Parent Memo for responsible gun gun ownership
- Developed relationships with local law enforcement and other community organizations
- Co-sponsored 25th anniversary of the Cleveland School Shooting
- Developed a framework for major new violence prevention programs for 2014
- Instituted a CSR volunteer program to expand the continued effort of violence prevention
